About this set

Now that William is Prince of Wales - the title which, for centuries has been bestowed upon the heir to the throne – he will one day be King. Traditionally there are two 'royal' coins - the crown and sovereign - the words monarch, crown and sovereign all being interchangeable in describing the king or queen of the realm. Originally the crown was a coin of five shillings in pre-decimal days, then after decimalisation it became valued at a mere 25 pence. This hardly seemed in keeping with its great size and presence, so in 1990 Britain changed its 'crown' to be a five-pound coin. This two-coin set we are proud to offer our discerning collectors comprises of two royal coins celebrating HRH Prince William. The first is the impressive British 2022 Prince William Silver Five Pounds 'Crown', in proof, Sterling Silver. Mintage 3,760 - less even than the gold sovereign of his birth year. The second is the British 1982 Prince William's Birth Year Gold Sovereign, in Proof, 22- carat gold, with a mintage of 22,500. This royal collector’s set comes in a deluxe presentation case, with an informative Certificate of Authenticity. Call one of our Senior Coin Experts now on 02 9841 3324
