About this coin
In 2017 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated their Platinum Wedding Anniversary, the first event of its kind in British Royal history. With the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, that 2017 Platinum Wedding Anniversary was their final major wedding anniversary. This set celebrates their union by bringing together a full set of British coins from the year they were married – 1947 – with the sterling silver crown coin and two commemorative stamps released for their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 1972. Their marriage in 1947, was in the midst of post-war austerity in Britain and so no commemorative coins were issued at that time. The first celebration of their marriage came in 1972 for their Silver Wedding (25th) Anniversary and for that we have the British stamps and sterling silver edition crown coin. This set includes all eight coins of 1947, along with the silver crown-sized 25p and two stamps of 1972. The 1947 coins are selected circulated condition, the 1972 crown is mirror-quality Proof and the stamps are mint condition. Housed in a protective folder, the set is accompanied by an informative certificate of authenticity.
