About this set
With the long-awaited coronation of King Charles III - the first coronation of a British monarch in seven decades – a variety of British commemorative coins were produced to celebrate. And the Bradford Mint is especially proud to offer its discerning collectors this ‘King Charles III Silver Two-Coin Coronation Set’, with a large crown-sized five-pound coin displaying objects of the Coronation Regalia used during the ceremony - symbols that are among the most precious and sacred objects in the Crown Jewels. The three items shown are the Sovereign’s Sceptre which represents good governance, the Sovereign’s Orb which symbolises that the monarch’s power comes from God and finally The St Edward’s Crown, with a frame of solid gold inlaid with jewels, which is only used at the moment the monarch is crowned. The fifty pence coin features the main door of Westminster Abbey, with its Gothic arches and windows, which has been the site of coronations since the time of William the Conqueror in 1066. Both coins feature a portrait of the king wearing a crown which is ONLY being used on celebratory coins for the coronation in order to symbolise the ‘crowning’ of the new king. This set includes both of these coins in sterling silver (weight 8gm and 28.28gm respectively), in a two-coin case accompanied by Royal Mint Certificates of Authenticity for each coin. Only a combined total of 31,770 of these coins were minted and we are proud to have secured a very limited number of these two-coin sets for our loyal royal collectors.
